Hacker group Antisec has leaked what it says is evidence that the FBI is actively monitoring the communications of every American using an iPhone.

The hackers released a statement Tuesday claiming that it had obtained detailed information on some 12 million iphone users, taken from an FBI agent’s laptop.

The group, long associated with the more notorious Anonymous hacktivist organisation, released 1 million iOS device IDs to back up its claims.

Antisec says that its motivation for leaking the information is to make it more evident that innocent people are being tracked and monitored by covert Western intelligence agencies.

“We have learnt it seems quite clear nobody pays attention if you just come and say ‘Hey, FBI is using your device details and info’,” the group states.

If it is genuine, and there is no reason to believe it is not, this case once again goes to show that whether it be mandatory Homeland security alerts, wirelessly disabling your communications on a whim, or secretly tracking you where ever you go, the rise of smart phones brings with it a huge threat to privacy and the rights of the individual.

Again, this is another case not of smart phones and technology in general being intrusive, but of the technology being co-opted and abused by those who could care less for the constitutional rights of free Americans.

The iPhone is such a successful consumer product, you hate Apple so much its crippling your logic lol.

I always find myself having to respond to you in Mac threads because everything you say is so wrong about Apple or so silly.

I don't care if you use a mac because that's your choice, and what, over 10 million have made that choice? I'm only saying Android is better for people who like Linux.

Further brown townysis of the document shows the FBI illegally retrieved information from areas outside of the US, including Canada, Japan, and Kim Jong's Malibu property which has reportedly dropped 5% in resale value.

No comment has been made by the FBI but being American they decided to make a derogatory comment about the rest of the world not being a free place because they are blind and living in a fantasy land of oversized food and guns.

It's not illegal if the government does it!
