Family RPs

   Am I the only one that's noticed an influx in, interesting servers over the past few versions. More recently during V19 and V20. It wasn't uncommon to see them before that but there has been many more since then. Just by stating my opinion, am I the only one who is irritated by this?

   Hopefully I'm not. I remember counting nearly 20 Family RPs, School RPs, Wolf RPs, or whatever the forget RP's (Summarized bullstuff server name) all over the server browser one day. I can't understand how people enjoy these things unless they're under the age of 12. Sadly I've made myself visit some of these servers here and there just to see what the hell these people do for fun, and sometimes I would see low BL_ID people, or can tell by the way they talk that they're not that young. Overall I just miss the days where there were actually Good Servers around like Fort Wars, understandable TDMs that don't abuse crappy add-ons and weapon packs, and didn't have forgetPGs (Another made up one).


Tell me what you feel about the subject below about all this.

Ahem, I did see your Family RP post earlier so don't go there. This isn't about advertisement, and when I get people on my server it's usually because I host a thing called a Fort Wars that no one can host for stuff anymore. They turn out very popular, but you wouldn't know that. You're used to other things.

I said you can't get people to join your server unless you're a pro builder OR(or being the key word here) you have a family RP.
Those are the only ways to get players.

This isn't about getting people on my server lol.. Nice job bra. I have my opinion about the "new hot trend" we seem to have here, you've got yours and you can claim you're successful at it and I'm okay with that. I would never host one, even if it was to get people on my server. I host WIP's and if people like what the WIP is they join. When I finish building and it's official with the mini-game then much more people join.

And attracting a lot of people who want to play Family RP and not "Sniper TDM" will cause problems.

When I read your post I got the jist that you host Family RPs to attract a lot of people; like you just said. What you then do is host whatever else you want. Most people who join your server join because of the title, unless you're well known. When you change it, unless people like what you're changing it to you loose a lot of people.

I host a family RP: 10 - 18 players throughout 1 hour
I host a TDM, DM, creeper, zombies etc: 4 players at the very most, throughout 3 hours

My recommendation:

Start server - Name "Zombie Survival WIP"

Start building your stuff, get situated, add whatever you're adding for the minigame

Change server name "Zombie Survival" and watch people flow in.

It's not just tricking people with Family RP's, you need to set a reputation among people. If you're known to host nice TDM's or Zombie Survival, then they'll rejoin whenever you host that again.
