You realize we didn't just travel over and kill them. We traveled over and settled. There were disputes and we won. Rome traveled all over to everywhere just for power. American settlers wanted a new life. Our cause was much more noble than Rome's, and Rome is just one of many many many civilizations that killed and enslaved loads of people for the sake of power.

In fairness, he probably didn't realize he was slaughtering millions and millions of natives with the diseases he brought.
