I really don't want Yogscast helping us, seeing as their fanbase is a bunch of small children who aren't quite mature enough for this game.

there's a difference between not being mature enough for the game and not being mature enough for the community

Well heh, I'd love to see a raging mother complain about her child finding "It paints ****ing everything" on the spraycan.

This is a game about building with Lego-style blocks.
Not much maturity is required for it at all. It is absolutely perfect for children.

And the Yogscast's fan community isn't just young children. There are a large number of teenage fans and even adults.

Personally, I would not look a gift horse in the mouth.
If the Yogscast have that amount of attention around them, including endorsement by UK celebrities, then I say be happy about them giving some coverage to Blockland.
I've said before that I have my reservations about Simon and Lewis in particular doing a video, but I wouldn't say no to any of the yogscast doing a video of Blockland.

There's really no point in saying no to an influx of members just because they come from one community or another.

I'd like to say thank you to Sentry for posting the topic to the Yogscast forums and being willing to give 2 keys to the group to use.

It's a shame however that a number of users ruined that topic.

Unfortunately, for whatever reasons our members may have for it, good or bad, they consistently manage to flood other places and give a very bad impression of our community.
The same happened before when people recommended us a number of times on Nerd3's YouTube Videos.

A lot of the people here get really over-involved, both out of excitement and emotion.
If people are going to recommend us to other communities, or to Let's Players, then I really believe they should just do it and not tell the rest of us.
Sorry to say, but it seems a lot of us just can not be trusted.

And it would be great if people were to leave that Yogscast forum topic alone.
Their moderators have made their decisions, so there is absolutely no point in pestering them.
It will only make us appear worse and possibly put the Yogscast off even looking at Blockland.

Well, I know I did support Trey's post, but 5 days ago, I messaged a well known LPer on Youtube about the game. I'm NOT giving away his name, yet.

It's not so much the game they can't handle, it's the community which thinks it's funny to say snake in every line of the chat, cuss uncontrollably, and just cause drama.

Holy stuff where was it ever stated yogacast is doing a video on this by yogacast? At the moment its just a fan rumor it looks like.

I think you're generalising atleast somewhat about their whole fanbase.

But even so, it wouldn't be a major problem for Blockland.

Every single server is moderated by it's host and admins (assuming it's good).
They can choose to get rid of spamming, swearing and rude people.
Those people can't do anything about that.

If it's on the forums then it's well known that our moderators tend to take a very low-tolerance policy towards spammers and incessant flamers.
If they get banned from these forums they have to pay more money to get back in, if they're permabanned.

And really, if a large majority of these players find themselves getting banned from servers or the forums due to their imaturity, then it's not our problem.
They've already paid their $20.
If they can't read the rules on the website, or learn to follow a good behaviour in game, then only they suffer.

While in the meantime Blockland would get a nice influx of fans and money, and we could have more coverage from people like the Yogscast.

It's very obvious to me that many Let's Players copy from one another.
They all tend to end up doing videos of the same things, even if it's not just a new big release.
And if the Yogscast for example were ever to put out videos of Blockland, then I'm sure that other people (both more professional and amateur video-makers) would follow suit too.

It's not been said anywhere, but that doesn't mean we can't discuss it.

There's actually been on-and-off discussion on various Let's Players including the Yogscast making videos of Blockland for the last 200 or so pages.

Sentry posted a suggestion on their forums for Blockland and offered two keys to Simon and Lewis. The thread was locked, but an administrator offered to give his e-mail to Turps (i think he's CEO?) so they could get the keys.

At this point we don't know if anything will come of this, or if they'll even ask for the keys, but it's likely something will happen.

Well hopefully the 2 free keys idea will be an all systems go and we get on Yogscast

Why not?
Just taking a guess,
Nerdcubed?

I don't want anyone to mess this up, no offense. And no, it's not Nerd.

For those who missed Hammer's stuff.

Hammers telling the Yogcast mods that the reviews are biased and are only to make the game greenlit

Him giving a link to this thread

An administrator, NOT moderator, locking the thread because people were getting personal.

99% of this problem happened because of Hammers. However, the 1% goes to the people who reacted to Hammers. Yogcast mods already told Hammers that it doesn't matter whether or not the reviews were from forumers. There was no need to get aggressive towards him; not all of the internet is like BL drama board. I know you guys were only trying to defend Blockland from an idiot's slander but it had a pretty embarassing results.

So remember if we get a thread anywhere but her and people try to start crap just ignore them and move on. Tell a mod or an admin that this person is purposely trying to start stuff to get the thread clothes/deleted.

Does anybody know when will be the next wave of Greenlit games?
