Author Topic: Lighting a large build  (Read 1018 times)

I made a topic a while ago asking about making some lighting effects. I've put it off but I'm still working on that same build and I'm still having issues. I have that nice effect, but now I can see very few lights at once. I'm building a subway interior, and preferably I'd like to have the environment have dark shadows, and lights on the walls lighting the tunnel all the way down. But despite the recent lighting update, there's still a very low limit on how many artificial lights you can see at once.
So now whenever I move the lights change. The ones furthest from me dim and turn off, and the ones I'm approaching brighten and turn on. It gives a very fake and undesirable effect. The effect I asked help to achieve in the last topic I made doesn't even work all that well because whenever I move around, so do the lights.

I know I can't avoid this limit since it's built into the game, but does anyone have any advice for me as to how I can somehow make it look good anyways? I'm hoping to make a video with this build so I wanted it to look good.

I'll post a video in a little bit of my predicament in case any of you are curious exactly how it looks
Here's the video

i hate this limit, it disgusts me how i have to put fake lights everywhere, then have to use at the most 4 ambient lights so that everything doesn't look all broken.

i love finding new ways to implement lights.

Well I finally settled on changing my 12 lights (to get that effect I linked in OP) into 3 ambient lights. It doesn't look quite as good but I guess it'll do

Use ambient lights and Eksi's IMG lights.

Use ambient lights and Eksi's IMG lights.
badspot made the limit smaller in v14, and now with shadows and shaders it appears to hardely render any lights at all.

Honestly I think that there should be a client option for how many lights can be seen, maybe a new slider.

It would be nice, the limits been getting annoying. :/

Turn fog up when people go into areas underground, it helps with the illusion.
