So is this just a big thing on the internet now or did The Oatmeal popularize Tesla
Just wondering, because that's where I heard about him first
That's not where I heard of him or why I like him.
He's just awesome.
But yeah. He does seem to have gained popularity recently.

not until like 1950 when his inventions were gaining popularity, or at least under his name.

There is ONE reason why we know Edison today and why our teachers in school didn't teach us about Tesla: Edison is American and Tesla was not from the right part of Europe. If Tesla had been French or British, or ancient Greek/Roman, we'd be required to learn him. This is the same reason we don't get taught about any of the fantastic scientists/mathematicians/doctors of the 700-1200's Middle East. This is probably the reason you've never heard of Alhazen either.

seriously this forgetin tesla fad is getting on my nerves

Comic about Tesla if you haven't seen it

Also The Oatmeal managed to raise over a million dollars in like 9 days to buy Tesla's lab and turn it into a museum
