Author Topic: The US needs leave the Middle East  (Read 2205 times)

I think it can get better. I'm not saying it is a permanent hell and everyone there should die. I'm, not saying that at all. It will probably get worse for a while if we leave, but in the long run, it could straighten its self out and become a livable place. For example. There are believed to be lots of yellow cake deposits there, that could be tapped into Uranium once the country is stable.
what good does allowing a struggling country to have uranium do?

That will take a while considering the Middle East is divided and fractured along every possible fault line.

From a purely geopolitical standpoint (disregarding all my moral feelings), the United States is going to maintain a presence in the region, particularly Iraq and Afghanistan. Not only does is give U.S. corporations billions of dollars, but it helps to maintain a sort of balance in the region between countries.

Its hard to get uranium out of yellow cake when you're a struggling country.

Its hard to get uranium out of yellow cake when you're a struggling country.

Well, there are the thousands of under guarded Soviet Era nuclear weapons...

One Soviet Scientist knew that the yellow cake uranium at his facility was measured to the nearest ounce when they took stock for security reasons so he stole small amounts at a time. It took a few months before he was caught and he was planning on selling it on the black market so he could buy his family a refrigerator.

so what good does them having it do?

I don't get how having uranium deposits helps the area

i think they should just beat up all the muslims all day every day just because we're tough and strong

you do realise there are SO MANY factors in the war that you guys cant contemplate them all

1. if the US leaves the middle east, then that gives terrorists a reason to come to the US instead of fighting on their home turf
2. it gives the taliban more to work with and more to do, ie. they can overthrow government
3. it makes the US look bad as forget
4. you cant just decided it by yourself, congress has to come up with this stuff and agree

I do agree that terrorist groups would focus less of liberating their homeland, but I think that regardless they'll still attempt to attack us even if we stay since they do not adhere to the idea of international borders

but yeah I agree with feep

We just need to stop being idiots with foreign policy:
 - We support terrible governments
 - We know too little about their culture so we always offend them

OP doesn't know what he's talking about AT ALL
