The entire point of religion is to offer an explanation of what we as a species haven't learned yet. It's antiquated and we haven't even sent a man beyond the moon yet; we've proven scientifically much of that to which we assigned a religious explanation eight hundred years ago.
I'm atheist because I find more comfort in that which can be scientifically proven than I can in that which was postulated a millennium ago.
Religious people are merely unwilling to wait for an explanation, unable to accept that it will be many millennia before humanity fully understands the universe.
