Author Topic: My explanation on "Proxy Wars" and their place in Drama.  (Read 1725 times)

There's been quite a few instances when people cry about their topics getting de-railed, when meanwhile it's just two sides arguing which is a functional part of the drama.

A drama normally consists of two sides, the support and the opposition. It's not always topic starter vs. topic subject. Both these sides have their arguments. Now these two sides will argue and fight in order to prove their argument / invalidate the opposing argument. A way of doing this, is too dis-prove the validity of the opposing argument credibility. This often comes in the form of directly attacking members of the opposing argument.

That is not de-railing the topic. So, when you see someone having an argument with another person, bringing up their faults and other things of the sort, that is not de-railing the topic to be focused on them. It is simply an attempt to disprove their credibility in order to support his argument.

tl;dr
"My friends fight your friends" is a valid way of arguing in Drama. Stop calling it de-railment.

The generally incorrect attitude that has been exemplified in plenty of arguments.

are you braindead:

I thought this was an explanation on proxy wars.

Yes, what does this have to do with proxies. Unless you count our internet pseudonyms and personas as proxies, I don't get the point.

Proxy
an ally or confederate who can be relied upon to speak or act in one's behalf.

In essence
"my friends fight your friends"
Friends being the proxies

I could get a bit meta here and point out that someone pointing out the derailment is an attempt to undermine the attempt at undermining whichever side's supporters, but I don't think us flamers here in Drama would have that much foresight.

Honestly, if you did this, I would be less concerned about the thread being derailed and more about the fact that your entire argument is fallacious.

except "k" isn't an acronym.
Shortened version of "ok" which is shortened from "okay", is it not?
