Dogs werent bread to be eaten though, they were bred to hunt and in more modern times to be cute. Thats why not as many people have a problem with cows or pigs, they were bred specifically to be eaten. Theres no reason to kill a dog or cat in a first world country.

And I disapprove with the slaughtering of other animals, aswell.  However, when in reference to FOOD, and not simply the enjoyment of killing (and the immediate documentation to present in a prideful manner), I have the ability to condone it.  If you enjoy killing, you're a sociopath.
