FTP, yes.

I had a really cool idea for a remote console.

Like, When you connect to the remote console, it gives you a cool GUI that lets you easily edit Server Name, Welcome Message, Amount of players, And of coarse, Start/Stop.

FTP, yes.

okay that's a good decision

i'm guessing we're going to need some sort of firewall and a bit of (D)DoS protection?

I'm assuming that the internet connection would have a decent firewall, so, with that being said:

How does using an interactive webpage with php security checks sound?

That's a bit ambiguous.

real time/autorefresh? or just manual refresh

That's a bit ambiguous.
First It'l ask for a password. Then after the password is entered, an Ip check is engaged, and if the client matches authorized IP addresses, then they are allowed to enter and use the FTP service. Otherwise, an email is dispatched to me, Glassy, (and his mom?), Informing them of this attempted intrusion, and what action to take (ignore, quarentine [which blocks that ip from even going to the page], or allow, which whitelists their ip.)

Probably autorefresh on a 30 second interval.

I hope you meant SSL.
