Partially true, but you do have the choice of whether you want to compete or not if you setup a hosting service, which he is not, he just wants a hosting service for himself and is adding some clients so he can offset some of the costs of renting the server. So technically, "competition" is not the word to use here. And it's certainly not direct competition either.

I would say alternative option rather then competition, as you said you are planning on only having 10-15 servers, Kal has about 25 servers right now and can add a lot more. For me, competition would be somebody that has a similar or better server computer specs with prices that are about the same or even lower. Then yeah, I'd call that competition.

for the eco, go 15. you cannot sustain the amount of RAM needed for 20 on 16GB if you're promising 99 players max, and what with greenlight, that's a possibility.
