Author Topic: Why is it called "Return to Blockland"?  (Read 1727 times)

I've just...never really understood the concept of that whole name idea, what is that about?

When the blockheads left to fight for the war, they wanted a cool hip name for their return. Back to the Future was taken so they had to take Return to Blockland.

It was made during a time when a mod called TBM was the most popular content package for Blockland. The TBM team had the intent of branching the mod off into it's own separate game (legend says they still try to do this seven years later) and in the end the mod became very bloated feature wise. RTB dialed this all back a bit and offered a more basic but still comprehensive mod package.

It all started when the fire nation attacked.

There was also something called The Orange Block at that time, but it was abandoned.

AiO-R (All-in-One Reloaded), originally just AiO (All-in-One), is a mod pack for Blockland that brings a huge amount and variety of options to the original Blockland game. Originally started by Lanhoj to incorporate the various mods and maps into a single download pack (hence "All In One"), when the official Blockland forums were deleted. AiO-R has since grown to involve several other team members.

Many see AiO-R as an evolution of the original "mod pack" for Blockland Block Land Mods which is no longer under active development. The approach of incorporating work by the community has often caused controversy, however, most notably with Skizot's Mod (a mod pack with new shapes and decals) and TBM (The Better Mod). Further controversy had grown from AiO's inclusion of models and code gathered from other internet sites and GarageGames.com, the creators of the Torque game engine that powers Blockland.

AiO was previously re-released and rebranded as All-In-One Reloaded to comply with the new mod rules put into effect by Badspot, the original creator of Blockland. Although it is still commonly referred to as AiO by most people, it's official name however is AiO-R. In addition, recently AiO acquired The Scenario Mod, an implementation of a Capture-The-Flag gametype in Blockland originally created by Rain that was adapted by BJway Bandit.

AiO-R is organized by Lanhoj and BJway Bandit, with work by PhatHippo(Moved on, but now back on the team), Ghost, BanderaIVVI, Thermoman, and Lord Richard. There are many other people who do the seemingly small, but very important job of beta testing. A few of those people would be Lone Wolf, Nairanvac, and Lex. (Only add your name here if someone on the AiO-R team has named you a tester)

This was one of the first mod packs to implement a patch system, meaning that users did not have to re-download the entire installation for updates - just a compressed archive with the week's fixes/additions/changes.

Lets quick downlaod it and steal all the bricks and weapons and port them to blockland

Except the original TBM team pretty much died off after retail. Nowadays, it's been stolen and taken over  by a bunch of 14 year old wannabe-skids. When the newcigarettes were using stolen content without permission, the original devs came back and pretty much told them to cut it the forget out.

No. TOB is a mod created by a loveually distressed teenager named Dshiznit in 2008. TBM&RTB times were 2005~2006.

Yeah, let's not.

I mean, they pretty much admitted to stealing a stuffload from RTB and AIO, and trying to jailbreak refail so they could play, despite saying how much it sucks and badspot is a 9/11 extreme terrorist.

The forums are still active
It took them 3 years, but they've finally managed to beat the RTBers at something.

Yeah, let's not.
No I mean seriously, there are some pretty cool bricks there.
But pretty much nothing else.

Anyone remember The Scenario Mod? :cookieMonster:
