It's weird how FFVIIPC runs through Sony's system. It's confusing. Actually, similarly for Kerbal Space Program. Point being, I also would rather this through Steam...

I would assume so, they've been releasing (and re-releasing) games via Steam for years now. Even if they decided to use another service, I would bet it wouldn't be exclusive.

I haven't played the original SA2, just Battle, so I don't know the difference.
