Author Topic: Rant about school  (Read 796 times)

Alright so they say what we learn in school actually helps in life right? SO Whenever i get the answer right but I personally think their method is confusing they count it wrong with the words YOU DIDN"T USE MY METHOD. In life it does not matter what METHOD you use. As long as you get the RIGHT answer. On to reading. I have an INCREDIBLE reading pace well at my school its considered incredible 30 minutes is a good 60-70 pages. But yet my teacher says "Your going to fast" "Slow down" When I can say and summarize EVERYTHING

This will be edited as i come across more problems.

In life you're gonna have to do things other people's ways whether you like it or not, so technically they are helping you in life

its cuz school started

When the teacher says "slow down" they just want to make sure that you have received all of the material.  If you believe that you have gotten 100% of what has happened, you can just say something along the lines of "I'm a fast reader.  I can summarize what has happened if you would like."  (But make sure NOT to sound like you are one-uping them.  They HATE that!)

The same problem with "methods" comes up with many different schools, happens to me all the time.  They are preparing you for the future of note taking.  A certain teacher may follow a certain method.  Say you are in physics class and your teacher is really strict about how you write down, so that if you have a test on the material you had learned in class, and the teacher creates questions based on, and uses, their method, you will know the answers.  I know it is frustrating, but if a teacher says that you should use their method I highly suggest you do, as it will help you in the future. c: good luck!

I hate teachers who do that.
Also lets not forget the whole "Sit down or I'm saying you're late!" I mean come on I made it to class before the bell...

Well, except, they're right, Alyx. If the bell rings and you're not in your seat, you're using class time. :/
I hate showing my work, because I'm good at mental math. I know WHY the have me do it, and it's a fine reason, I just hate doing it.

bell = class starting
and teachers like to teach during class

Memorizing is also stupid. What if you are a doctor and someone says this, "Okay you have to diagnose this patient, but you can't look at the book to find out what he has" or being a Lawyer and "Okay you have to prove that this guy is guilty, but you can't look at the book".

Memorization is useful for certain things, but it's easy to over do.
