Author Topic: We need to form a new BlockOS team  (Read 1470 times)

The BlockOS5 logo

If you don't know what BlockOS is, it is an overlay/GUI for the Blockland's home screen that resembles a computer's desktop. It started development December 2011 and was later handed over to Scout31, the maker of Blockland Glass in June 2012. Along with the ceasing of development of BlockOS, the seventh version of BlockOS was released. BlockOS 7 had many problems with the new customizable desktop and seemed rushed and broken. I say that we need a new development team for BlockOS. I think it had potential and received a lot of good feedback.

I never liked nor have I ever seen the usability of this. Why would we need to change the layout of Blockland when it is simple enough right now?
Is the default Blockland format just too complicated for some? Or does this have some kind of special feature besides botched 'apps'.

BlockOS includes more features like a music player, wallpaper customization, all the apps, making the menu a lot more functional.

music player: why would you play in fullscreen
wallpaper customization: screenshots folder

The BlockOS is a useless piece of garbage in my opinion. all it adds is useless.

I already have a nice music player. Two of them actually.
We already have a nice folder of screenshots that the background shuffles through.
Apps? You mean Add-ons?
More functional menu? You mean your menu confuses you?

It was a bad idea then, it's a bad idea now.

These guys are right, it was nice while it lasted, but really it was awful :p

2012*
Also, I'm fairly sure BOS7 was never actually released.

There was a dev version, but I'm fairly sure it was never published through official channels.

oh

I'm still working on it. I'm working on separating it from BLG at the moment so they can be released separately, but there's a lot of cross-integration. I've made a mockup of a new loading screen and server list to go along with it.

BlockOS always was and always will be a pointless waste of time. Your actual OS will do every app better and the average user spends so little time on the main menu, reskinning and over complicating it is stupid.
