Author Topic: I screwed up my neck somehow  (Read 928 times)

I woke up this morning to find that moving my head out of a certain position (slight tilt down, about 30 degrees to the left) results in extreme pain. I'm guessing I pulled a neck muscle in my sleep or something.
So basically my head has been facing the same direction all day and it's hard to get used to moving my whole body instead of just my head to look in a certain direction.

Has anybody else had this happen before? How long does it take to heal? If you know some way to help the pain go away or help it heal faster, say so.

It'll probably be gone within 2 days at the worst.

You probably had your neck in an awkward position while you were sleeping.

yeah i get this from time to time
it normally goes away towards the end of the day, but if it doesnt itll be gone sometime the next day.

put a hot towel on the area that hurts.
its called a kink (not to loveually kinky kind)

This is probably the best explanation.
It always happens to me on my neck, and shoulders.

I honestly think it's worse than that. I've slept in awkward positions before, but right now it's like if I turn my head there's so much pain my whole body freezes from shock for a couple seconds.

i've had my neck pop before and it resulted in almost unbearable pain if i moved my head even slightly. lasted about half a week and now i get scared whenever i feel my neck pop.

oh forget i hope that's not what i have

It'll most likely be a pulled muscle.

Swallow some painkillers or ibuprofen and you'll be good as new.

try to look down towards your feet and see how it feels

it could be pulled muscles in the chest, back or shoulders too

I took two extra-strength Tylenol earlier, but it only relieved a little bit of pain.

Right now I have a Salonpas patch on it (basically an icy-hot patch) but it's still pretty bad

It'll go away naturally, just keep your head forward, you don't want to look the other way or that will get sore too. Happens to me a lot, usually from football and sleeping strange. Those tylenol should help pretty soon

bump because i've had this

the way i solved it was forcing it into that hurt zone. like, all the way. eventually it'll go away.

wouldn't reccommend it but it worked for me
