It will never be brought back, it would not have been removed if it had been thought it would return.

RTB has an issue with not deleting things that are broken/unneeded/need fixed

It was removed because it was impeding development, so I doubt they would return.

I bet you, if this game gets on Steam, he will (possible) get more Developers and put his mind to make the terrain as at least better and compatible.
