Author Topic: Java is messed up - Need help.  (Read 1180 times)

So when ever I try to open a .jar folder with ProgramFiles(x86)/Java/jre7/bin/Java.exe and kalph told me to do it with /bin/Javaw.exe. And all they do is show the loading symbol on curser, and then it disappears, No window opens, Nothing.
Oh and the java for my web browser works fine, But the .jar files will not open at all.
Don't start saying uninstall and re install.

I done it  8times.

um

what .jar are you trying to open

are you using 32-bit java on a 64-bit system?

anyway, what's the .jar you're trying to open?

is this for any .jar or is it just that one?

also, if you're trying to see its contents, you don't use java/javaw. you use something like 7-zip or WinRAR.

edit:

Remote console.jar
you should just be able to run it. try right-clicking and doing Open With > Java(TM) Platform SE binary

Wait what.. When ever I used my macbookpro it worked fine. But not on here, And I think its 32bit java.

are you on a 64-bit system? i'm assuming you are since you have Program Files (x86), unless you just created that for god-knows-why

probably isn't your problem though.

When I was on my mac, It would always open and say Java as the program. Kalphiter told me to run it with Javaw.

Edit: 64Bit, Yes. And I tried using the 64bit. Nothing worked. Not even the browser java for some reason.

The javaw command is identical to java, except that javaw has no associated console window. Use javaw when you do not want a command prompt window to be displayed. The javaw launcher displays a window with error information if it fails.
it wouldn't really make too much a difference besides that, but i'd do it anyway since you probably don't want or need a console

anyway, perhaps try this in a command prompt:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin\javaw.exe" -jar "Path\To\Remote console.jar"

Why is it when I copy and paste into command prompt it comes up as a loving ^U

Probably because you're doing Ctrl+V and that's actually ^V.

You may be able to just right-click and paste though.

If not, you have to type it in manually.

I got this error.

I finaly posted this on my forgetin mac.

Also. Everytime I loving post this happens..

...

are you serious?

i mean, i'm not trying to be rude or anything but wow

you don't literally put "Path\To\Remote console.jar"

You have to put the path to the .jar file.
