The Syriakian fleet was pinned to the coastline, and couldn't escape to the sides, because three seperate forces attacked a grop of Syriakian vessels. The side fleets prevented escape from the sides, while the center fleet pinned them to the shores. It was then when the USC forces came in from land and surrounded the ground forces in the area and cut them off.
Yeah, but I guess who ever made the SAM II, i'm pretty sure it is laser, and I use a little of those, but yes, the general SAMs are heat seaks. But you notice flares can be dumped, and them a SAM to be sent once you use all your flares, or at least once you are reloading.
SAM-IIs have flares on them to deter anti-SAM rockets. The automatic system that fires and targets them uses GPS and laser.

First of all, SAMs aren't fired at ships. That's just stupid.
I can fire SAMs at ships if I damn well want to, lol.
