There is no cure yet. Inoculation works for a period of a few months, due to a rapidly-mutating evolutionary pattern.

There are numerous cases where a disease mutates from lethal to non-lethal. The most notable one I can think of is the Spanish Influenza virus. Look it up. Plus, it isn't necessarily successful if it kills the host before it reproduces multitudes of times. It's usually better if it can disable defensive systems and live on in the host.

Besides, this is my way to reign this thread back in, in the most roleplay related way possible.

except that's not how evolution works either. mutations that are beneficial, whether or not they are needed, survive and eventually replace the ones without the mutation. the organism does not decide when to evolve.

Svernlochian researchers try everything to find a cure for the flu.  It is found that when the host eats more spicy foods, the disease spreads faster.  It could have to do with Calcium intake through the mouth and throat, which Capsaicin speeds up at rapid rates.  In breeding these viruses in a lab, the virus has been found to have an affinity to Calcium compounds.
