Simple, download the most recent version of Blender. Download Blender 2.49b to someplace else; you're only going to use it for exporting. Download the .dts exporter for 2.49b from the Blockland webstie. Then just model whatever the hell you want in the most recent version, and when you want to export it to a .dts save it and open it in 2.49b, make sure everything is intact (it should be) then export it. This is what I do and I've never had any issues.

Don't get newer than 2.62
The mesh system was redone in 2.63
It messes up when opening in old version

If you have the 0.97b3 version of the exporter, there should be a page called sequences.  In the windows "all sequences" next to the sequence there should be three buttons like "export" "cyclic" and "dsq". Click the 3rd one.

@OP: The only tools that you can use right now are Blender 2.49b and the 0.97 beta 3 version of the exporter which is the latest, but it is also more than 4 years old, I think. Demian probably posted it somewhere.

Don't bother too much with the version Badspot posted on the site, it's even older.

  • Download "obj2dts" (Virus free)
  • Export model as .obj
  • Drag and drop the model.obj file to open it with obj2dts.exe.
  • done
Won't work on all models though.
Usable on any .obj file exported from any good modeller.

You can't place bones or joints doing that. Also, I've never heard of such a program.

That exports to .blb. This is the program Pacnet was talking about. It looks like a nice program, but it you want to export anything animated you'll have to learn to live with Blender or MS3D.

He's right. The only DTS exporter available to the public is from 2009. Others do exist but they are for game studios' internal use. I guess you could email some game studio that has worked on Torque games recently and ask if you can distribute their exporter. Frozenbyte is where I'd start.

It doesn't if you check the "save using legacy mesh format" when saving.

People seem to skip the Blender help thread: http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=157886.0
