Author Topic: New Planet made out of Diamond found, thus the space race is on.  (Read 9480 times)

Get your wooden pickaxes! Lets go take a NASA shuttle to this "diamond" planet.

On topic: I guess any probe or unmanned shuttle will burn when it is near the planet.

Even if you disregard the time it would take to get there, astronauts would not be able to touch down on the planet, they would cook.

It’s temperature is estimated to be around 3900 degrees Fahrenheit

if we make robots out of diamond...

..in the constellation Cancer.

Oh boy!

Oh boy!
we can't go there, we don't have a cure for cancer. if we cure cancer population will explode and the earth will die.

I want to see a meteorite smash that planet to pieces and watch the diamonds sparkle as they collide into the star and burn. Though doubt that'll ever happen.

What would happen if diamonds actually did go into the sun? would they turn into super diamonds?

Wasn't this posted like 6-12 months ago?

Still though, it's interesting, but not really worth anything more than "oh hey how about that"

They will never get to it soon, even if they did, it's really hot.

It'll be gotten when nasa invents the warp drive.

OT: I'm very interested of how we can get over the distance and temperature problem.

Well, with the latest theory on interstellar travel, this would take, at the fastest possible speed, 8 years round-trip. This isn't including landings, time spent mining, or launchings. However, if we were to mine this planet, diamond would suddenly be worth less than dirt.

Reason:

1. Faster than light travel: http://techland.time.com/2012/09/19/nasa-actually-working-on-faster-than-light-warp-drive/

2. Prices change based on supply and demand, a system that requires a scarcity of goods, and this planet is made of almost solid diamond and twice the size of Earth. This means there will be more diamond available to us than all the dirt on the surface of the Earth, and let's face it, that's what we have the most of.

fun fact: things can go faster than light. as much as you've been told light is the fastest thing in the universe and nothing can surpass that, it is complete bullwonky. humans have accelerated neutrinos faster than light.

^uh nope
that was a messup: http://news.sciencemag.org/scienceinsider/2012/06/once-again-physicists-debunk.html

nice try though
nothing goes faster than light, sorry
