Social engineering, in the context of security, is understood to mean the art of manipulating people into performing actions or divulging confidential information.[1] While it is similar to a confidence trick or simple fraud, it is typically trickery or deception for the purpose of information gathering, fraud, or computer system access; in most cases the attacker never comes face-to-face with the victims.

Make people do what you want them to do! It's like the speech skill in Fallout.

Here's a example of things that can be done with SE:

I was working on a case, where I can't divuldge the specifics, but I was trying to dig up dirt on the primary witness, he worked at a non-specific building. I went up to the secretary working and asked him if he had seen a, and I quote "very important USB drive with files pertaining to-" here I stopped myself and said "Well, what's on it isn't of intrest to you. All that is is that I have it immediatly." He said no, as I suspected. But little did he know that I placed a USB infected with a RAT in their lost and found after the conversation. The secretary must of found it, and snooped around. I got access to the shared network.. And didn't find anything of real use for the case. But the point is that I broke into their security system, where I could have changed documents and such to my liking. I didn't because however dirty I may be in court, that's going to far.

i mean talking about getting free things from companies (free items, free pizza, free games, etc.)

I'm not interested in that kind of stuff though, i want to learn more of how persuade people (kind of like a speech skill in fallout)

i was always a fan of manipulation and stuff and watched durarara just for izaya (at first) but after i learned that people dont get mentally messed with and that im absolutely terrible at manipulation i didnt really get into it
but ya its cool ok
