I have exactly the same printer and it gives that error all the damn time

And then there is the annoying part where every time you turn on your computer, it adds a new printer to the list of printers that you can print from, so after a month I have
HP Photosmart
HP Photosmart (Copy 2)
HP Photosmart (Copy 3)
HP Photosmart (Copy 4)
HP Photosmart (Copy 5)
etc

just spammed across every networked computer in my house.

my printer works 10% of the time. I was trying to use it to scan some papers into pdf files so that I could email them the other day and it took forever because I had to keep restarting the scan cause it would just give up halfway through. and sometimes prints will just queue up and never actually print then you have to go in and cancel all of them and fiddle with the cords and restart the printer.
