Actually probably not. The virus is likely transmitted via bodily fluids.
So he was probably clawed or something I dunno. So in other words, being in contact with an open wound = You're boned. Otherwise probably not.

Bodily fluids = blood xkill, and blood can soak through clothes and into skin.  His knees were also scraped.

Simply being in contact with that stuff just sitting on your skin likely isn't enough. You're likely going to need an open wound, say a bite or a scratch, even.
