actually I always thought about something similar to that, that's a great idea

Maybe include Resources in the OP for different programs. Like my friend Plastiware made an instrument pack for FamiTracker.

wait, does famitracker user .xi files as well?

No

well that wasn't very descriptive :|
what does it use instead?

we need a piano note, fast.

No
oh shoot, i meant .xm files, sorry.

PROTOTYPE OF STATIC PACK* (.xm file, created in MilkyTracker)

*name change is up for discussion, i'm not very sure i like it myself.

so each instrument has some text in its samples list.
the version number (starting at V1.0),
my name next to the version number to show i made that version of the instrument,
and then a pointer below to tell the user at what pitch to play it at (since the first three are drum notes). the pointer doesn't have to be there but can be pretty much anything useful to know about the instrument.

and yes i made a short track to show off the drum notes because why not

All songs are in 'dl.dropbox.com/u/97311769/Songs/[given url part]'
This brings my song total from 5 to 14. Heck yeah.

*Preview (NOT a blockland ready song - not a loop, will fade out or stop abruptly)
Please notify me if any of these are too loud, too soft, stereo, have a weird buzz/clip effect, etc.

New songs:
Dreams* Chiptunes/Dreams.ogg (I swear this one sounds like something else but I can't remember its name.)
Nightmare* Chiptunes/Nightmare.ogg
(Yes, these are companion songs. How did you guess?)

Old songs that are probably ready to be added:
This Song Is Action Chiptunes/ThisSongIsAction.ogg

Old songs that were ready that I have given (bad) names:
Wasteland Chiptunes/Wasteland.ogg
Challenge Chiptunes/Challenge.ogg
Shift Chiptunes/Shift.ogg
Onwards Chiptunes/Onwards.ogg
Lab Level - Reflex Chiptunes/Lab Level/Reflex.ogg
Evil Wrench Chiptunes/EvilWrench.ogg

Old songs whose links dun broke:
Echoes Chiptunes/Echoes.ogg
Void Chiptunes/Void.ogg
Core* Chiptunes/Lab Level/Core.ogg
Neuron Chiptunes/Lab Level/Neuron.ogg
Reactor Chiptunes/Lab Level/Reactor.ogg

Site is now updated.

Dreams*
i swear to god i know exactly what this sounds like but it just isn't there
waaaaugh

Onwards
that was the first 8 bit song that legitimately gave me the chills (that's a good thing :S).
one of the notes here was a little clip-ish, i believe between 0:38 and 0:40.
and also, around 0:27 or 0:30 the bass notes get a little awkward, in case you want to look into that.

i think Onwards is a perfect name for it and i really really hope you make a full version of this song.

STATIC PACK V1.2
Quote from: V1.2 Change Log
  • Added short bass note
  • Example song became even sillier
