I have one question to the people saying "Oh it just has minor changes...":
Why the forget would you get a thing that only has minor changes?

We are here today on behalf of the Microsoft trial for charges of mistreatment of the start button...

I've had 8 on my laptop for 10(?) months. I haven't used the metro UI since the first time I installed it.

wow, both of them are full of stuff i'll never use. it's almost like the default apps on my phone.
You can undock or redock as many apps as you want.

What if i want a specific file on the desk top, like say, a text document im working on, or even a folder?

then go to the desktop and make a new file/folder on the desktop, like you would on windows 7.

if you mean on the metro UI (and i'm pretty sure you do, lol), i'm not sure if there's a way to pin a file to that. i'll find out when I get home, if I remember.

Is the metro gui the friend one?

the one with the squares, yes.

If theres an alternative I may consider upgrading.

Windows 8?
Don't you mean Fisher-Price OS?

It's really only built for tablets anyway, but computers in the future will still OS likely have XP or 7

i'm confused on whether or not you people legitimately don't know about the desktop view, or if you're just cracking jokes about the metro UI.

also I found this image of the bsod for widows 8

I almost face palmed so hard that I knocked myself out.

I hate metro, they have removed features I liked from the desktop too, and named it windows 8
