How do I play music over TS3?

Title. How do I play music over teamspeak 3. Everything I've found, including the musicbot plugin, hasn't worked. So if someone could find me a way that works I'd appreciate it.

Plug your headphone port into the microphone port with a standard auxiliary cable.

For god only knows what reason, this option is disabled on some sound cards for only windows vista and 7. As far as I know, all previous windows operating systems didn't care what sound card you had.
