Its true, they aren't the same. Furry fandom isn't based on a show and there is quite a bit more to it than just watching a show and being like "omg this is the best stuff ever!!!!1!!"

Honestly i believe they all ended with giant mechs and other "manly" things.

Also, pony stuff can be considered furry but most furries are just the original concept.

I never see mlp-humanized animals in the way a "furry" is. A anthro stands up on two legs and looks like a person in most ways where a mlp-humanized animal is just a talking pony.
