Before you start reading this, try "playing" on a City RP server.

First, notice the profession balance. You'll notice that out of every 3 people in a server, 2 are criminals. That's because everyone of us want to be lazy stuffs and go killing people around to get money. There's a reason for that. Because there's absolutely no reason why should you get a job if you can just go around killing other criminals for their money. But, there's a consequence for being a criminal: you can get jailed... ...for 10 minutes away from the keyboard. So, if you look back at the server after reading this, you see, almost everyone is a criminal and everyone's getting killed, which brings me to the second point:

Second, server hosts apparently don't know what the definition of "RP" is. If you give guns and other perks to criminals, they are likely to NOT role-play. So, if I am a criminal and I am the "average criminal" and am going to mug someone, I would not just ask my victim to give the money, I would just shoot and kill him. This is not how role-playing works: role-plays shouldn't be based on your skill of using a gun inside a game, it's about your skills of acting like if you were in a story.

I was playing as a policemen and was chasing (in a car) after a criminal that killed another player. So, I cornered him and I told him I was going to put handcuffs on him. He pulled out his gun and before he could kill me, I killed him first. He respawned and returned to the same point he died and hammered me and I died. This is utter bullstuff. People nowadays don't know how to role-play properly.

My suggestion is that you City RP developers take guns entirely out of the game (or just disable damage) so people would actually role-play and not just show their skills with a gun in Blockland.

You are free to contribute to and discuss any points made here.

It should've been a RPG so you can role play while killing people or stuff like that but i mostly agree.

What else could you expect from children? Unless people start to reprimand them for it, they'll keep doing it.
There ought to be a rigid set of rules about what is and isn't appropriate conduct in a roleplay server.

For example.

1. Unless you're part of a team that greatly outnumbers and outguns the rest of the server, try to be sneaky and tactful.
2. Saying that your character is "insane" is just a stupid excuse to kill people whenever you want to. And such, you shall be treated like you are not trying to play a convincing character.

That was funny because it was so sad.

Rule number 2 has occaisional exceptions; I had an RP character called Roger Mortis who was insane, but he never killed ANYONE. He just creeped on people in-rp and said weird things.

I might make a ACTUAL City RP, where you actually RP instead of shooting everyone.

Good luck bro. Seriously. Every RP idea failed miserably. RP is the most worst type of server right now. You're just scraping the stuff under the rusted stuff at the bottom of the stuff barrel. I suggest doing something more creative and efficient.

OP's story is basically City RPs in a nutshell.

Idea: stop using stuffty cityRP mods that do nothing but add a gui and something that could be done with events while ignoring literally every other aspect of the game.

CityRP's revolve around around crime. If you take out weapons cops won't have anybody to jail, shop keepers won't have anything to sell, and officials won't have anybody to pardon.

CityRP's are supposed to be challenging. Without death, it wouldn't be challenging at all. So basically without crime CityRP's would just be city-builds.

A CityRP without guns isn't a CityRP. It's always been like that and always will be. And even if you somehow manage to remove weapons, you'll loose a lot of the people on your server because most players just want to kill.

the problem we had from cityrp from the start was that people needed something to sink their well earned cash into

still a problem nobody has figured out an effective solution to

Many servers use brick prices to counteract this, the main problem is you end up with a bunch of people getting guns and not building. others end up with people buying cars and then getting them stolen.

How about something where you have disabled building but can work to buy a scripted house macro and then furniture macros server-sidedly?
