I personally consider getting offended over a snake extremely childish, regardless of what has happened to you in the past or where it is you saw it and what you were doing at the time, it would've made the protesters look more vigilant if they had just ignored it and such would've helped their public image.
I mean really, it's just a snake and the guy who put it out there was just doing something equally as childish for kicks, reducing to his level and starting a scene over it instead of letting police deal with him or something just makes both parties look like fools in the long-run.

Your point makes sense.  It is bad that they reacted at all.  But anyone would have done that.  If they wanted to maintain their cool they should have ignored him and let the police handle it.

They are mad because he was loveually harassing them.  His gesture was him saying he didn't believe in their cause.  They didn't react violently though, the picture is of them yelling at him.  Lets remember this walk is not about feminism, it is about rape victims. 

As for Bisjac, his comment did prove his loveism and possibly his insensitiveness towards rape victims.  So yes, he is very opinionated.
