Author Topic: Server idea: Mini FTL roleplay  (Read 1376 times)

Basically, like mini empires, but you don't control a whole empire. You control your thing. You're a space ship. "woo wee so boerign' Is FTL boring? "no baht-" Good. Basically, I thought about this when I was controlling a sole ship that I started with in a Mini Empires. I upgraded my cannons which made me remember of FTL. I think it would be nice to go even further - have a crew, buy stuff from space stations placed around, battle eachother, etc. "k good idea but y u no do it erself" My PC appears to have a mollecular structure of one stuff atom every 2 normal atoms.

I... don't understand? Can you please explain this a little more?

You know,  Faster Than Light?

sounds awfully complicated. why not just play FTL? you can't do much with so called "mini empires" anyway

I actually keep thinking about replicating FTL - Faster Than Light in Blockland to see what it would be like from the crew's perspective, but you just know that whoever I put in charge of the ship is going to suffocate everyone.

I though about this too, but having one player give orders will be difficult. Because you just know the captain is a richard and nobody listens to the orders and everyone is doing whatever they want/DMing.

That's exactly why I don't want real scale ships. Everyone is the captain of their own little ship with imaginary crew. Roleplay is very strict and enforced, you don't just go 'oh, no, you blew up my weapons command room,  I don't give a stuff, fire the plasma torcreepes'

I would happily make this with bots if someone could help inspire me.

Bots? That wouldn't work, because I expect players to work on their ship over time, overhaul it. A bit further than FTL. FTL is a mission to get some data to some place. I want this to be a full-fledged starship roleplay.

You know,
why not just play FTL?

We do NOT need a remake of every single "ogm graet" Indie Game. Don't get me wrong, I like FTL but why replicate it in Blockland, on a "framework" (Mini Empires) that attracts the attention of those who don't put limits of rationality and logic on themselves just to "win"?

Because FTL has no multiplayer.

Because FTL has no multiplayer.
if it had it would ruin the game. and I can't expect this to be any better.

Because FTL has no multiplayer.

Maybe, just maybe, there's a reason behind that move in an industry where nearly all games feature some kind of multiplayer function.
