x / 2 = 20

step 2)

x / 2 * 2 = 20 * 2

step 3)

x / 2 * 2 1 = 20 * 2 40

step 4)
---
x = 40

is the way i'd do it

DISCLAIMER: Ignore the people telling you to divide. They probably are in 6th grade, and don't know what fractions are.

The forget kinds of schools do you people go to? Why the hell would you not know what a fraction is at 6th grade? Same point.

Step 1: Math

x/2 = 20
(x/2) * 2 = 20 * 2
x = 20 * 2

Step 2: Solution
x = 40

I forget what it's called but yeah that's how to do it.

This loving guy.

I forget what it's called but yeah that's how to do it.
eliminating the denominator

really it's just finding the x

I want to eliminate you, bich.

Why would you learn that 40 divided by 2 is 20 at the age of 13?
the original problem OP described was:
x/20 = 2

not:
40/20 = 2

the difference is that the top is single variable equation solving while the bottom is just basic division, the first one being something you either learn anywhere from 6th-9th grade depending on your skill level and school's curriculum, and the second one being taught at least around 1st-3rd grade (can't remember exactly when).

x / 2 = 20

not

x/20 = 2

that's a terrible way of doing an equation

you cant have
x / 46 = 658

and just automatically know that
30268 / 46 = 658

Aren't you 13? And you still have math problems that easy?
Today we went over reflections on the y-axis in math class.

Someone didn't pay attention in math today.

i've explained this.

x / 2 = 20

not

x/20 = 2
ok, it was x/2=20.  still the same concept of single variable equation solving though, my point still stands.

30268 / 46 = 658
yes you can

x / 46 = 658
get a calculator
multiply 658 by 46 as so:
658*46 = x
then you get 30268, which happens to fit as "x" in "x/46=658"

x/2 = 20

20 * 2 = 40

40/2 = 20

20 = 20

Is this correct?
