Author Topic: Tutorial - Anyone Thought of this?  (Read 1596 times)

there's nothing wrong with the tutorial... it's actually kind of fun
There isn't the little area to free build like the old tutorial, then again I think we only get one one brick in there anyways.

I guess that could be added. When I think about it, it's also kind of awkward to have to exit out of it and start a new game to get out of the tutorial mode.

The new Tutorial is stuffe and needs more rooms like target practice.

There was target practice in v9-v20

R.I.P. Target Practice

They do, but most people who get blockland probably already know how to do it.

more like we need more simple gamemodes

target practice gamemode anyone?

I got it! Badspot, here's what to do:
-Make old target events default
-Add a room and script targets into it
-???
-Profit

lol I always did that the second I could build then you just climb along the roofs to the end

110% sure.

Now anyways, noobs won't hopefully notice it.

I see what you did there, Terta.

On another note, the target practice in the Tutorial is pretty mediocre; it only teaches you how to shoot a sitting duck. What they REALLY need is a Targeting tutorial that pits the player against bots who strafe and jump and crouch and all that other fun stuff... and sometimes shoot back.
That's how I learned to hit a moving target. richarding around while strafing.

I think the tutorial should remain as basic as possible.

It only needs to teach you how to play at the most basic level (moving around, using default tools (hammer, printer, wrench), placing, moving and deleting bricks).
Using a vehicle or shooting is something I would consider equally helpful, but I don't think it should take the time to make a master marksman out of you.

If the tutorial is for getting someone to be able to atleast play the game, then it doesn't need loads of extra things to clog up your time. You might never end up using some abilities in the game.

I do however think it would be pretty cool if there was a build(s) and/or a gamemode created which were designed to teach you some sort of gunplay.

Something like spawning random targets to destroy, and then maybe bots that move and fire back?
It could be an interesting thing to play around in. Get a little bit of practice with Blockland Guns, but not be a required part of learning to play the game.

That's what I meant, I was trying to say they needed a SEPARATE, OPTIONAL shooting tutorial.

(edited because I put my comment in the quote lol)
