I live in the Jersey Shore. To be honest I made out really lucky. Half of my town is destroyed by the ocean. Boardwalks either gone totally or damaged, and the beaches lost so much sand I'd be surprised if anyone went there in the near future. I made it out with no Electricity for 8 days, a minor announce but alas there is a roof over my head.

Okay Sandy, we apologize for not being ripped away from the US, you can stop sending your minions to flood the state in rain and bury it in snow

Sandy was a tropical storm

Which means some weird weather stuff happens.

Anyways normally where i am after a few days of extra hotness it rains or snows, not sure if that works on the east coast
