Author Topic: periods make a sentence more serious  (Read 2402 times)

i made a post on tumblr about this a while ago, but i just now noticed how evident this is.

not sure if it's just me, but when I read sentences, i'm more likely to take them seriously if they have a period at the end.

like, this sentence:

i hate your face, forget you

i hate your face, forget you.

does the second example seem more "serious" to anyone?

It's serious grammatically speaking aswell.

yes, perhaps because it makes it seem more "final"

like, "this is the end of it"

and possibly also establishes more credibility than without because of obeying grammar rules

Yes.......................... ............................. ...........
(^ super srs bns)

You need to capitalize the first letter, too...and all your "I"s...and finish being grammatically correct in order for me to take you seriously.

you've explained it better than i ever could have, haha

ok

which is why I don't like using them

i'm not a very serious guy when it comes to the internets

that's why I almost never use periods

same here

Periods are annoying
I dont use them

i just type like this all the time
I mean, if I wanted to, I could probably type much nicer.
but that feels so weird and not me so yeah

no.

You'd need to type right if you were ever writing a paper or resume, or something similar.

why do people talk like this

And yeah, I mean I guess the sentence is a tad more serious...since it's now a statement.
