Author Topic: AMD Athlon II X2 240 vs Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200? [SOLVED]  (Read 1711 times)

I've got a motherboard and processor here from a newer PC (AMD Athlon II X2 240 (rev. C3)) along with the one I have now which is a Core 2 Quad Q8200 which appears to be garbage.

Should I stick with what I have or should I swap out for the AMD?

Get the AMD.
How about no

Wow I used to think AMD CPUs were decent.

They're great for budget builds if you want performance, hence forth why most people tend to go towards them. Their affordability to performance ratio is great.

You're comparing a dual core processor and a quad core processor.

cores usually dont matter as long as it starts with dual.

Core2Quad by far. Not only does it have more cores than the Athlon, but it has better single-core performance as well.

Where are you getting these numbers from?
I'd love to know for future

Sometimes I think people go for AMD instead of Intel just because they saw the word AMD.

I love my AMD Phenom Quad Core <3

Sometimes I think people go for AND instead of Intel just because they saw the word AMD.

I sometimes get into fights with people on the subject. They keep saying AMD CPU's are better performance wise as well. Its obvious they are either complete handicaps on the subject or there jealous that they spent there money on a processor that isn't as good
