So, do you have a guide for running Windows 95 with VirtualBox which you, yourself approve?
It's not hard to do.  You install VirtualBox, you get either an .iso of Windows 95 or a physical CD copy and mount it as a booting disk alongside the empty "hard drive" that you set up for VirtualBox.  Then you start it up and install it.  It's not hard.

It's really straightforward. I believe VMWare player has a built in walkthrough too.

Well my problem is I don't have a copy of Windows 95. Can anyone confirm the status of Windows 95?

Probably not but it probably goes for very cheap.

I had a similar problem when my sister tried to run SimPark from the CD. Are the files for the game local or on a CD?

Why not just partition Win95? it's not like it will take up more than 10GB of space.

Also I'm fairly certain it's abandonware. I'd check up on that though.

Awhile back I found an old Windows 95 CD and figured I'd try my hand at installing it from DOSBox.

SPOILER ALERT: It was complete hell.

and I don't even know how. it just didn't work.

i could get the setup working, but it must've been corrupted or something like that because it never worked properly.

No, it is not. No Windows OS is abandonware yet.

is DOS?

is DOS?
no

edit:
this is all in the sense of "copyright expired" and i don't think abandonware is the right term for that actually

Abandonware is stuff you can no longer commercially purchase from the vendor.

k then in that case Windows 2000 and below would be abandonware

Nope. None of the Microsoft operating systems are abandoned when it comes to copyright protection. They are no longer supported, but as far as copyright:

"As a general rule, for works created after January 1, 1978, copyright protection lasts for the life of the author plus an additional 70 years. For an anonymous work, a pseudonymous work, or a work made for hire, the copyright endures for a term of 95 years from the year of its first publication or a term of 120 years from the year of its creation, whichever expires first."

I tried looking for a place to buy a digital version of Windows 95 online, but I can't find anything. I'm not sure what stores would even sell it anymore.

This was what I got. You can only buy hard copies, it appears: http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Software-Windows-95/dp/B000NRY05G

It is local, originally from a disc though.

With some copies of Windows 95, the CD doesn't contain bootable files. You need a bootable floppy image. But with that, you actually have to move CD1.SYS, AUTOEXEC.BAT, and CONFIG.SYS from the bootable floppy to the hard drive after formatting it, then you can go about installing as normal.

I'm assuming this is for Virtual Corporation?

I suck at everything as well as fishing.
