Author Topic: It was a happy, but also sad day.  (Read 2319 times)

Today after church I went to my grandma's house for my birthday. I got some money from my uncle, grandparents, and great uncle. I got this double barrel shotgun that was my great grandfathers. What happened was, when my great grandfather would go hunting he would use it, but when my grandfather was old enough he started letting my grandpa use it. When my great grandfather died the gun was lost. 45 years later my grandfather found the gun and he gave it to me for my 16th birthday. We went out and fired it and also fired some other guns we have.

Now the sad. My great uncle is very very sick and he lives at my grandparents house. He has a room on the bottom floor. So today my grandpa called the dispatch and asked them to send an ambulance to take him to the hospital because my grandparents can't move him. He has lost a lot of weight and he won't eat anymore. :(

TL;DR - Had a cool birthday, great uncle is going to the hospital

Sorry about your uncle.

Pics of the gun?

My first thought was "this is the part where it gets sad isn't it"

edit: oh my that's a cool gun

Aw, I'm sorry to hear that. I feel sorry for all my little cousins because they'll be the ones witnessing the most deaths/funerals :'[

That isn't a 12 guage is it? Also, what's the year and make on it, it's very nice and if it's a good brand / year that just adds onto how impressive it is.
I'm not shotgun savvy as I am rifle / pistol, but Im assuming the make and gauge would be on the barrel or stock.

Also, I'm sorry to hear about your uncle and I hope he recovers.

Trying to look up the model name and year. Its probably early 1900's

I'm no guns expert so what exactly does gauge signify? The shell size/bullet count or what?

How early do you think at most? 40s? 30s? That could be REALLY awesome.
