Yeah... you're totally immune...

Since when is safe mode not a viable option?
never said totally immune
i said im less likely to get viruses

can anyone else not figure out wtf this means?
google, you loving neanderthal.

Of course, I was saying the simplified version. It could really be any sort of download, and by what I've read it registered as a picture file, so my guess is it was a virus binded to a picture and the .exe spoofed to a .jpg or other format.
Even so, the executable couldn't run itself unless his moron sister allowed the Java applet. Having a whitelist for the Java plugin sure does help prevent this bullstuff.

Take out hard drive from computer, take out hard drive from external (I forgot that bit) HDD, then put the computer's hard drive in place of the external and proceed as normal

I'm guessing she means that you take out the HDD and put it in a computer that's clean, boot from the non-infected hard disc in safe mode, and then clean the second disc of the virus.

yeah whitelists pretty much prevent viruses lol

even though most viruses dont affect macs
all a program has to do is a single command:
rm -rf /
your mac is now dead

My sister Isn't so smart when It comes to computers. This isn't the first time she got a virus.

lol, thought you were just insane. would have made a *lot* more sense if you had the word external in there

have you accepted jesus as your lord and savior?

TAKE OUT THE HARD DRIVE
NOW PUT IT IN THE HARD DRIVE

Anyways, to fix it, boot into Safe Mode with Networking, then download, install MalwareBytes, and run a scan with it.
If the desktop doesn't appear:
Safe Mode with Command Prompt
regedit
HKeyLocalMachine > Software > Microsoft > Windows NT > CurrentVersion > Winlogon
Edit the value of "Shell" to "explorer.exe"
Reboot

when the emergency alert system goes off in the middle of the night
Urgent message broadcasts

these two scare the ever living stuff out of me. I HATE the EAS tone, not because it's annoying, but because it's scary as forget.

apparently theres less mac viruses though
does this mean i need an antivirus as well thougj if mac viruses are common now :/
