It was only a spacing from Dear John, the "Thank you very much" and the "I don't know your age." You can structure it so that it varies.
Plus how can you explain his dad one day hopping onto his computer, sitting at it typing for a while on a website that he visits to the total strangers or "child enthusiasts" that exist on the forum. And, if you'll see, there was a difference of 1 minute between the message in the OP and your message.

if his dad is not handicapped its not like he couldnt figure out the "send personal message" button would mean that you can send people personal messages. why could his dad not be internet savvy at all? this site isnt encoded in super secret teenager language or something.
