Author Topic: So....I've been away for a while  (Read 1550 times)

A few years back, I loved screwing around on the blockland demo, but then I stopped for a while. Now, I finally have my own credit card, and I thought, hey I can buy blockland now! So, I got it, and I was very disappointed that there are no maps now. What happened when I was gone? Why were the maps removed?

Maps were removed because they were hindering Blockland's further development, and overcomplicated the code. Now, we get awesome shadows!

We sacrificed maps for more modern graphics.

so no more maps forever?

And how did you come up with "we" not everyone cant run shadows even shaders atleast.

EDIT: GOD loving DAMMIT I THOUGHT I WAS editing my post ugh

You can build maps using modular terrain bricks. So it's not really gone, it just forces you to be more creative.

They don't look the same for me

yeah, I guess I could get used to it.

maps aren't good for anything!
but shaders are!

Why were the maps removed?

maps were dependent on inferior code. which was greatly updated out of the game.
but the maps were of incredibly low quality anyways, like year 2002 quality for gaming... and im not referring to how people arent making good maps, i mean it wasnt POSSIBLE to have moderm maps be of any acceptable quality.

we really arent missing out on anything by not having them. blockland can age much better now. plus the updates that killed the maps just open doors to other content we were unable to have before.

yes
no

what if badspot developed high definition terrain and interiors at during 2015 or something
