Author Topic: my shift key is broken  (Read 949 times)

hello, my shift key is broken.

nothing physical happened to it, it just won't work.

anyone know how to fix/

new keyboard.
right shift key.

smash it with a hammer

did you try turning it off and on again

so the other shift key does not work?

try to pry the key off the keyboard, see if there is anything blocking the key from going all the way down or something

So, the shift key in general doesn't work?
It's not just one of them?

Have you had a proper check that the key isn't jammed or has anything trapped in it?

If you can't get it to work (and you really need shift) you could use the OnScreenKeyboard.

Also, have you tried using another keyboard (if you have one) to make sure it's not a problem with your keyboard?

Other than that, I don't really have much advice. I'm not a surgeon.

You probably just have a virus.

you guys aren't really helping
???

when a keyboard is broken a keyboard is broken.

only option is warranty or replace.

i've had a laptop with broken z x c and v keys.

only option was to replace the keyboard because nothing else worked.

if the shift key presses normally then its a replacement issue.

You probably just have a virus.
if this is true then it's the first non hidden non money grubbing virus i've ever seen.

both keys do not work

and all other keys work

it's built in to my laptop

and i have an external one, but it disables my mouse for some reason

implying those are unreplaceable.
