What's to stop every player from making their own company which will leave no one up for hire?

I'd imagine for starters people would work at company's then, start their own.

Thus leading to the usual downfall of cityrpg's when too many players have reached endgame status

Solution: Permadeath and multiple characters.

We discussed this with Jincux, and I belive how Permadeath should work is if you get hit anywhere but head, you will fall unconcious based on how much damage you took. 150+ damage is obvious permadeath, when something lower than that number will just make player unconcious, unable to do anything but spy around his body in third person

There should be paramedics that can recover people from unconcious status, but that's not so easy. They have to bring the body to the hospital and put it in the hospital bed.

And even when someone has died in unconcious status, paramedics STILL have the chance to save the player. Zap him a few times, restore the heartbeat if you're lucky, and yay! He's alive! Lets go drink some beer.

How will this benefit RP: Everything is dynamic. Even when you reach endgame status, you still fear for your character. You fear to be killed. Survival will also become an important aspect of the game, thus increasing the terror of being tracked by criminals.

What if your knocked out and theres only two people on the server and the other person is the one who knocked you out?

If there are no employees, there are no resources, there is no profit. In addition, a business permit costs money, and the company has to pay larger taxes then individuals. This will keep only profitable (and thus ones with sufficient employees) open. Companies can lure employees by good pay and what not.

Then he will most likely kill you or be sorry and deliver you to the hospital where generic life support can tend to you until a parametric logs on. I intend to make it so that your body will stay in the hospital bed after you log out to allow medical people to help out. While in the hospital, the user has the choice to end it all and start over, only keeping their land and nothing else, or wait and pay a medical bill when they heal.

And if he's just feeling cruel and just wants to leave your body there?

Then you'll die after a while?

Probably of starvation.
Keep in mind that when unconcious your health should decay, like in L4D.

This is so horrible of an idea I expected a [/joke] at the end of it.

What if you fall whilst you're the only player in the server, and noone is there to help you?
What if noone wants to help you?

Permadeath is a horrible idea in a CityRPG, if someone irl dies, their money doesn't disappear, it gets pushed to heirs.

If not permadeath, I plan on putting in some strong penalty for death. Perhaps reincarnation, which resets certifications and bank accounts or something. Plus, some injuries can be self-healed, but requires spending time in the hospital.

Add gun licenses and price semi-automatic weapons relatively high (rifles, pistols, shotguns) and automatics high (smg's, assault rifles, etc.) and maybe a special section that is much higher than the others that supplies high caliber weapons (sniper rifles, flamethrowers, rocket launchers? etc.)

Licenses would be great addition as people who have performed crimes would unable to perform crimes again without illegally getting a firearm. Of course knives and such don't need a license, so that means people can sell for example knives without a firearms permit of any sort, if he wanted to to he would have to get an appropriate permit for each tier of weapons they're selling.

Hope this kinda helps!!
