Licenses are stupid. Criminal won't care about having a license when they're killing the entire city. Also, criminals aren't the only people that use weapons, cops sometimes use weapons against the criminals.

The whole idea of a city RPG is stupid imo. I'd like to see the effort put into something that won't suck in the end or won't get finished. Guess not though..

That's the entire reason I'm making this...

Woo hoo, money that doesn't come out of thin air!

That's exactly how perma-death mechanic helps: Criminals are actually afraid of their lives.
The time they spent to buy that damn pistol off the hands of some bigwig just so they get caught on a killing spree for one minute and lose all of it?

I think not.

Criminals will actually be very careful when killing someone. They don't want to be wanted or killed. Most of the time crimes will be everything but murder, because mugging is way easier to perform than murder.

Oh, also, courtroom system and enhenaced jail stuffs will help as well. Criminals will be afraid of jail. Criminals will be afraid of guilty verdict. Criminals will be afraid of death sentence.

Trust me, this CityRPG has way more effort than that piece of stuff Iban made.

Grinding won't be the main aspect in this CityRPG, the actual point of it is to enjoy the damn game and interact with other players in all ways possible. Everything will be mostly player-driven. Nothing appears out of thin air: companies, factories, money, etc., that's what players of the game are there for.

Grinding won't be the main aspect in this CityRPG,
Permadeath immediately means a forgetton of grinding.

What happens when you have 20 people on a server, all hard workers that have gotten very far in the game.  Boom a noob comes along and earns just enough money to buy a gun and kills 10 of these people.

Permadeath is always a horrible choice if your not talking about a game in which killing is to be expected and normal.

But it's not as simple as saving up. First off, guns won't be cheap. They'll cost tons of plastic, thus causing the producer tons of money. And permits won't be cheap either. The killer will have to work just as hard, if not harder, then everyone else.

You should be able to create multiple characters with a profile loading/saving system.

This.

Profiles should be stored on an online API so that different servers can host the mod and you can keep the same character within those servers, like travelling to different towns/cities.

Port has this neat thingy called Avenir API going on, he hosted 10 servers with it and you could chat globally and use website to announce stuff and.. stuff.

Basically allows full control of every server with this API. Remotely.

Funny, that's an idea I've had for awhile too. Most recently I've been thinking of that in a TDM context. The only issue is that other towns/cities could modify the add-on or have admins that grant themselves tons of money. The only way I could think to solve this is some sort of custom launcher that makes sure nothing is modified and then remove all admin commands, which seems a little bit OTT.

well then don't give it to people you don't trust?

You could make all money transactions handled via the API, kind of like a bank, so transactions must be approved by bankers. Or is that too realistic? ahaha
