Author Topic: Chilliwack: Where we lose our everything to the Native Americans.  (Read 1020 times)

Native Americans are basically Canada's Mexicans

Makes sense. Every country has to have some form of Mexicans it seems

This thread feels awfully full of stereotyping.

Perhaps it is, but that's honestly how things work in my town. And frankly I wouldn't loving mind even a Dictator running Canada by this point.

again you are blaming all native americans for what 2 did. the things they did were wrong. what you are doing right now is the equivalent of me purposely trying to find bad things about black people and then using it as a argument to be tribal towards blacks.

I merely listed 2 of the daily things that they do in my town, don't think just because I listed 2 thing means that only these 2 things actually happened in the existence my town. In this case, bad apples soiled the bunch yes. And there are plenty of few whom are actually really good people and think rationally about what they do in my town, hell I have a foster sister whose native and has fetal alchohol syndrome because her mother drank with her. By this point, I feel bad for them at the same time I am extremely angry at most of them. You can say what you want about me, but what I see here everyday is native americans getting drunk and breaking every possible law written and them blaming everyone else for people getting mad at them.

You can call me prejudice as much as you like, but so long as things keep going the way their going here I'm still going to see things the way they are now.

I got the joke, silly. I was trying to make a second joke.

Thats a terrible excuse. Just because everyone else in your town stereotypes people that doesn't give you the right to do it yourself.

Also by dictator i assume you mean tyrannical dictator. Either way, you don't want a dictator

Actually, most of the people in my town don't see Native Americans the way I do, but more along the lines as feel sorry for them. If this is stereotypical I'm not attempting to make it seem like their that stereotypical, I'm listing what's happening.

And honestly, I'd rather anyone over Steven Harper. To a degree this is his fault, he's spoon feeding the Native Americans their lives.

Edit: Holy crap I messed up with my first little paragraph.

Hate to break to you OP, but it is not Harper's fault. Natives have been living in this sorry state long before Harper took office.

That's not what I meant, for the time that I've lived here all I saw was Harper giving them everything they ever wanted, there was once a Native who lived here who had 4 friggin SUVs all paid for by the government. He didn't have a job, and you'd frequently see him drinking beer in the Pit near where I live.

It's still not Harper's fault, Native issues have been touchy ever since the Oka CrCIA.

I suppose so, but I don't think its even close to human to have someone feed you your life, to get everything you ever wanted for nothing.

Once again you're stereotyping. Not all Natives are like that, sure a lot are, but the majority just want to have a good life.

One: That last sentence I said there was not saying they were, although most of the ones here do. I was merely saying I dislike someone getting what they want for nothing. But you make a valid point when you say they just want to live a good life, and I suppose I have to respect that.

I'm partially Native American and you have offended me, good sir. Although I do agree there are some issues, you shouldn't make a generalization about all people of Native American descent. I know I personally am a good person, I'm sure that these are just a few starfishs who are behaving like that.

You're just envious, lol.

I don't know anything about Canadian politics or views on Native Americans so I won't comment on such.

I do however believe that regardless of what grunterdb tries to explain, he is being prejudice and is unfairly stereotyping.
You can't claim all Native Americans are bad just because the ones in your single town are.
Perhaps they are detrimental in your town, but that doesn't give you the right to say all Native Americans are inherintely evil, lazy, criminal and rude.

I'm not going to say that they deserve the right to act how they want due to their history, because that is equally wrong. The ancestors of my nationality committed numerous wars and enacted mass slavery. But that doesn't mean I should have to scrape the bottom of the barrel to get by, just for recompense for my ancestors actions.
And in the same way, just because the ancestors of your race were cruely mistreated, and yes they and their culture were nearly wiped out, but that doesn't mean you should be allowed to be free of all laws in the country you reside in.

OP needs to seriously get some like-minded people in his community together and to petition and complain and make a fuss.
Crying to an international forum about a specific community of one race won't really solve the problem. Especially when you enter in here and make very rude generalisations and then have the ignorance to suggest having a dictator lead your country, all on the basis of what a few people (in comparison to their entire race and your entire country) happen to do in your town.

If OP is angry and wants to tackle problems regarding what he sees as an entire race of people, then he needs to grow up a little bit and treat the case with a little more respect.
