The situation is considerably more urgent this time around. I'm getting distress calls everywhere about a large convoy moving in on the helicopter. Normally I'd be able to take down a convoy of this size, but I'm beginning to run low on ammunition. I look over the convoy and form a plan in my head. I call out to Gunfighter flight over the radio.
"Gunfighter flight, status report."
"Two, standing by."
"Four, engaging enemy soldiers, taking heavy fire."
"Four, continue engaging ground threat. Two, return to formation immediately. I need your assistance. We will be attacking a large convoy approaching the downed Blackhawk."
"Two, roger."
"Command, Gunfighter 1-1, inbound to your location to provide close air support. Commencing attack in approximately one minute."
I mark the two light armor vehicles with a SPI and upload the data for my wingman. "Two, get into position five miles east of the target. I will come in for a gun run. Engage light armor with AGM-114 Hellfire on my command." I look back to see the other AH-6 breaking off, and I anxiously wait for him to get into position.
