Author Topic: Unstable Sound In-Game  (Read 1091 times)

Hello everyone. I'm using a Windows 7 computer that has passed all of the computer requirements, however, I do not know about the sound card requirements which comes to the following problems. Every time I am in a server, the sounds seem to be off in volume. If I'm in thirdperson, the sounds can barely be heard. When I'm in firstperson, few sounds can be heard. I've also noticed that when I do the Alarm Emote, it crackles my speakers so badly, that I preferrably have to mute the sound because it's much louder than any other noise. This has never happened on my old Windows XP, so I'm wondering, does it have something to do with the fact that I'm playing on a Windows 7? Please, I need help, otherwise I'm going to have to play this awesome game on mute until I can find an answer.

P.S. This happens on no other game on my computer.

Torque's stereo directional sound is broken/sucks.  Also OpenAL sucks.

So I guess it's time to replace the sound card...I was afraid of this...

No.

No.
It is NOT the time for a new sound card
This happens it seems on torque because its torque
Windows XP doesn't do this for some reason, but pretty much every other OS does it.

Ohh ok. So...I'm basically screwed unless I switch back to Windows XP?

...if it's putting out audio it's working perfectly fine. What he said in that quote means it's an issue with Torque, not your hardware.

Maybe because this version of Windows had more support for OpenAL or something? I'm completely unsure of this, I had the same sound issues with XP that I had with Vista and 7.

Pretty sure you could just change your speaker setup under Windows 7's settings and see if that fixes anything.

Try right-clicking on Blockland.exe, selecting Properties, clicking the Compatibility tab, and setting it to Windows XP mode.

I tried setting compatability mode to Windows XP and still no success. I guess I'm going to have to face facts or something.

Is ur windows 7 sound to the max? Try putting the master volume higher?
