Author Topic: I have the most annoying condition ever  (Read 1492 times)

Tinnitus. It's when you hear ringing or windy sounds in your ears when there is no external sounds around, and its extremely loving annoying when I'm in bed trying to go to sleep. The worst part is, there is no cure for it so I get to live with random sounds in my ears.

Man, that's gotta be nervewracking.

Caused by loud headphones.

I'm pretty sure a lot of people have it. I'm pretty sure I have it. It's really not that bad. I don't have that problem with falling asleep

This, though not for sure.
I do have a constant - but very subtle - ringing.

I kinda have ringing in my ears at times. You can actually ignore it by thinking about other things, though.

I heard this makes people kill themselves :o

Same. However, every once in a while, it gets very loud for no reason, then goes away. Never debilitating or anything

Wtf? That's scary.

Wtf? That's scary.

Yeah, my friend told me the other day that he has it, and its the number 1 (Or pretty high up) reason people kill themselves. I doubt its the number 1, but its definatly up in the top 10.

Do they experience it a different way? (Is it like a migraine headache or something where an intolerable amount of pain is experienced?)

Oh, I know what this is.
When there's no sound for your ears to pick up, your brain creates it's own sound to fill the void. I have it, but I usually don't notice it.

There's like this whole creepypasta about being able to hear voices of the immediate future if you cancel out the placeholder sound. It's a pretty interesting concept.

What does silence sound/feel like? I've probably never heard 'nothing' during a moment before because of the ringing, or small sounds resonating in the background.

I'm pretty sure you can't hear the absense of sound. If you're in a completely silent room, your brain will generate a sound to fill the void. Your brain is a wonderful thing.

I thought most people were able to just hear nothing when there was no sound present (I've asked a few people and they simply said they heard nothing. Nein. Not even buzzing). It's interesting to think about, especially if you've always heard at least something your entire life.
